What is Rhinoplasty?
It is a widely used term for nose job in general. Aesthetic Rhinoplasty performed on most Asian, among others are corrective nose-cheek augmentation, and corrective tip of the nose surgery.
What is Augmentation Rhinoplasty?
It is a surgery performed to correct wide and/or flat shaped nose (button nose).
What is the procedure of Augmentation Rhinoplasty?
This procedure is performed by inserting patient’s natural tissues (such as the cartilage of the rib) or solid silicone implants.
What is corrective nose-cheek procedure?
• A procedure to narrow the nasal width at the nose-cheek junction
• Adjust the position of the nose-cheek, which may be too low in comparison to the bridge of the nose (columella) that gives an impression of the nostrils facing front. A higher nose-cheek position in comparison to the bridge of the nose gives the impression of the nostrils facing sides.
What is corrective tip of the nose procedure?
It narrows tip of the nose which is too wide (round) and shapes a pointed tip of the nose.
What is corrective nose-bridge procedure?
A nose bridge which is to low can be corrected by augmentation, while a bump high nose bridge (hump nose) can be corrected by removing the hump.
Does this surgery require general anaesthesia?
The type of the anaesthesia depends on the procedure being done. In general, augmentation rhinoplasty procedure, which inserts solid silicone, only needs a local anaesthesia, and so does corrective nose-cheek procedure. However, other corrective nose surgeries need general anaesthesia.
What is the post-surgery treatment?
Within a few weeks after the silicone implant augmentation procedure swelling will subside and the final result can be seen. On the procedures that incise the nose bone, swelling will normally last longer; it can be weeks or even months.
