What is Face Lift?
Face Lift/Rhytidectomy is a surgery procedure performed to overcome the loss of skin elasticity on the face and neck due to aging process. It is done by tightening the skin and the tissues underneath, as well as reducing the excess fat.

What is the reason for Face Lift?
Face Lift is aimed to rejuvenate the smoothness of your skin, and to refine the shape of your face and neck. Face Lift will help increase your self confidence and make you look younger.

What is the criteria for a good Face Lift candidate?
A number of criteria that determine a good Face Lift candidate:
• Visible lines or deep folds from the corner of the nose to the corner of the lips.
• The loss of “youth” lines
• Wrinkles on the cheeks and on the top cheekbone area
• The decline of skin elasticity, marked by the appearace of skin wrinkles or as a result of involution process (shrinking tissues or organs) on the face or neck.

Face Lift can generally resolve the abovementioned problems. In any case, the elasticity of the brows, upper layers, under the eyelids or wrinkles around the mouth will appear due to the lessening of skin elasticity. Your plastic surgeon can provide more information if you are interested in other procedures which can be perfomed in these areas.

How is Face Lift performed?
Not everyone will get the same results because it is influenced by a number of individual factors. Your plastic surgeon will choose the most suitable surgery procedure to get the best results for you.

Where are incisions placed for a Face Lift?
Although there are several variations to the techniques used for a Face Lift, in general the incisions are mostly made and hidden behind your ears. Incision line begins from the temples and then continues around the ear lobe and returns to the point of origin in the scalp behind the ears. Incision scars will not be visible because it will be covered by your hair and perhaps by your face powder.

How can plastic surgeons restore your confidence and rejuvenate your face?
Face lift incisions are made carefully. Your plastic surgeon will free the skin and carefully separate it from the underlying facial tissues. After the skin is pulled up, excess skins will be removed.

What are some of the risks associated with Face Lift?
There is very little chance for significant complications to occur on Face Lift procedures. Each year thousands of people successfully undergo Face Lift surgery. From experience, there are no critical problems arising from the procedure, and clients are happy with the results. However, each candidate for Face Lift needs to know the benefits and the risks of the procedure.

It is best that you have a good discussion as a ground for your consultation with the specialist surgeon, or with a staff member at your doctor’s office. The risks of the procedure can be minimised if you follow the advice and instructions from your plastic surgeon, both before and after the surgery procedure. A number of complications that may arise:
• Hematoma: collection of blood under the skin that need to be removed
• Infection and reaction towards anaesthesia

What is the result of Face Lift?
The results of Face Lift surgery can be so dramatic or appear smooth. This depends on how you compare it with your condition before the surgery.

How long does it last?
Healing process takes place gradually. You have to wait for several weeks or several months to enjoy the final result. The time it takes for this process depends heavily on a number of variables, which include the nature of the body and lifestyle factor. The process will take place continuously and you will be happy with the looks for several years.

After a period of time, you will visit your plastic surgeon for advanced efforts and undergo development evaluations. After the surgery and thorough follow ups, your plastic surgeon will recommend that you resume routine monitoring visits, perform observations and discuss the long term surgery results.

It is necessary to remember that the relationship with your plastic surgeon does not conclude when you leave the operation room.
If you have any questions or wishes regarding your surgery, or if you need more information in the coming time, you may contact your plastic surgeon.

Weight fluctuations causes your skin to stretch and contract. Skin loses its elasticity as you age and can’t bounce back after each fluctuation.
